You simply won’t be able to watch this without laughing.  Truly.

This short video is not only laugh-out-loud funny, it’s  a poignant reminder of the difference between Journey Life Lenses™ & Destination Life Lenses™.

Journey Life Lenses™ are all about the process, how things unfold, the journey (e.g. let me talk & don’t try to fix me).

Destination Life Lenses™ are about getting things done, getting stuff checked off the to-do list, getting to the point (e.g. just take out the nail for the love of chocolate).

Watch.  Laugh.  Learn.

Organizers, Prepare To Swoon: “The Art of Clean Up” Puts Messy Reality In Extreme Order

June 13th, 2013

Compulsive organizing

Organizers, Prepare To Swoon: “The Art of Clean Up” Puts Messy Reality In Extreme Order” is a Fast Company article that had me laughing.

It could be renamed “Calling all Carrot Life Lenses™.”

Does that kind of order, that kind of organization make you want to vomit?  Make you feel constricted?  Make you want to run for the hills?  Make you want to laugh hysterically? Chances are you’re not a Carrot Life Lens™ but rather a Mountain Life Lens™ .

“I never intended to do comedy,” author Wehrili explains. “My intention is more to not take things–or people for that matter–for granted. I was always fascinated by the structure of things: ‘Why do things work this way and not that way?'”

No laughing matter? Love the idea of  systems?  Of organizing?  Does it make you swoon?  Chances are you’re a carrot, like author Wehrili who wrote the book below.

Studying entrepreneurship without doing it ….

Studying entrepreneurship without doing it

…is like studying the appreciation of music without listening to it, says Seth Godin.

The cost of setting up a lemonade stand (or whatever metaphorical equivalent you dream up) is almost 100% internal. Until you confront the fear and discomfort of being in the world and saying, “here, I made this,” it’s impossible to understand anything at all about what it means to be a entrepreneur. Or an artist.

Similarly, can someone who’s not a parent know what it’s like to be up 3 nights in a row with a sick baby?  Not truly.  Can someone learn how to swim without ever getting wet.  No.

Does that mean it should stop us from trying to understand ‘other’ as best we can?

Absolutely not.
