Shine on light & enter the shark demos the dachshund (aka know your strengths & weaknesses)

Truly a LOL video.

The humour comes from something being oh so very obvious to the observer but not to the participant (in this case a dachshund trying to fit a huge shark into its cage).

Kinda like strengths & weaknesses.  Like where the light shines & where it’s dark.

Knowing your strengths, your assets, where your light shines bright & true brings ease & clarity.

Knowing where your weaknesses, your blind spots, your areas of awkwardness are also bring ease – because you can gain those perspectives from someone else.

So shine on light & enter the shark.

Dabble or Inhale – Perspective on Stop & Go Life Lenses

Some like it slow, tentative, methodical & measured.

Like a Stop Life Lensâ„¢.

Like Daisy in the video below.

Some like it fast, flurried, impulsive & spontaneous.

Like a Go Life Lensâ„¢.

Like Cooper, below.

If you’re one, the other may drive you batty on a bad day.

Which is better?  On a bad day we’re convinced it’s our way or the highway but we need both.

That’s the hard part to remember & believe on a hard day.

Inner GPS of Feelings from Danielle LaPorte’s Desire Map

I’m reading ‘The Desire Map – a guide to creating goals with soul’ by my good friend Danielle LaPorte.  It’s remarkable.  It’s illuminating … for Heart Life Lensesâ„¢ & anyone with a heart or who wants to rediscover their heart.

As someone who’s very good at sucking it up, surging forward & getting on with it, it’s a relief to stop & pay attention to how I’m actually feeling.  Oh bliss.  Oh joy.

‘Knowing how you want to feel is the most potent clarity you can have.  Generating those feelings is the most powerful thing you can do with your life,’ says Danielle.

‘… you need to stay in motion in order to get from one state to the next, constantly referring to your inner GPS of feelings.  “Right now I’m traveling south on Despair Highway, which means I’m about nine hundred miles away from  Joy.  I better take the off ramp to Courage.”  And pretty soon possibly in an instant, you’ll be right where you want to be.’

Inner GPS of feelings.

Roger that.

Life Hacks from John Green’s Mental Floss

The following is from John Green’s Mental Floss. I’d originally planned to include some other life hacks (a.k.a. things that are re-purposed to save you time & make life a little easier) but I couldn’t find the source & I don’t include stuff in my blog if I can’t credit it.

So fast forward to John Green, which is even better.  Check out the video below to find novel uses for bathrobes, tennis balls, hangers, masking tape, CD spindles & more.

And if you’re thinking that separating the crumbs found at the bottom of a cereal box may not exactly be urgent on your to-do list, I agree.  However, the point here is perspective.

Finding a new one.

Seeing something a different way.

Taking a new view on an old perspective.

Illuminating.

As for me, as soon as I get home I’m going to try the cookbook one as I don’t have a holder & it drives me a bit batty when I’m cooking.

Like what you saw?  You can see another of his life hacks here.
